Phase transition and twinning in polycrystals probed by <i>in situ</i> high temperature 3D reciprocal space mapping

چکیده
Polycrystalline materials exhibit physical properties that are driven by both the interatomic crystallographic structure as well nature and density of structural defects. Crystallographic evolutions phase transitions associated twinning process can be observed in situ three-dimensional (3D) using monochromatic synchrotron radiation at very high temperatures (over 1000 °C). This paper focuses on continuous measurements 3D-reciprocal space maps high-resolution x-ray diffraction a function temperature along transition occurring between 1200 °C room temperature. These precision allow observing reciprocal node splitting evolution diffuse scattering signal around The capability this experimental method is illustrated direct 3D due to recorded dense pure zirconia polycrystals.

متن کاملAdvances in characterization of deformation structures by high resolution reciprocal space mapping
With high angular resolution three-dimensional X-ray diffraction quantitative information is gained about dislocation structures in individual grains in the bulk of a macroscopic specimen by acquiring reciprocal space maps. In high resolution three-dimensional reciprocal space maps of tensile deformed copper, individual, almost dislocation-free subgrains are identified from high-intensity peaks...
متن کاملThe high temperature phase transition in SU ( N ) gauge theories
We calculate the continuum value of the deconfining temperature in units of the string tension for SU(4), SU(6) and SU(8) gauge theories, and we recalculate its value for SU(2) and SU(3). We find that the N -dependence for 2 ≤ N ≤ 8 is well fitted by Tc/ √ σ = 0.596(4) + 0.453(30)/N, showing a rapid convergence to the large-N limit. We confirm our earlier result that the phase transition is fir...
متن کاملHigh Temperature Behavior of Dual Phase Steels
Dual phase steels with different martensite volume fraction and morphology were tensile tested at a temperature range of 25 to 5500C. Stress-strain curves of all steels showed serration flow at temperatures of 250 and 3500C, and smooth flow at the other temperatures. Both yield and ultimate tensile strengths increased with increasing testing temperature up to about 450<sup...
متن کاملQCD Phase Transition at high Temperature in Cosmology
The cosmological QCD phase transition is studied in terms of the color confinement at finite temperature using the dual Higgs theory of QCD. The confinement force is largely reduced at high temperature, which leads to the swelling of hadrons. We derive analytical formulae for the surface tension and the boundary thickness of the mixed phase from the effective potential at Tc. We predict a large...
